Toyota Hilux Single Cabs Motoring Review
TOYOTA has launched a limited edition of the Hilux to celebrate the performance of the model in the 2013 Dakar Rally. The announcement coincided with the announcement of the Toyota Imperial South African Dakar team for 2014.
Called the Hilux Dakar Edition, the package is available for a limited period only (August to September) on Raider-grade models across all three body types.
The Dakar Edition comes with a host of additional standard equipment over and above the features of the standard version.
Exterior-wise, it features a number of stainless-steel adornments (nudge bar, rear styling bar, side steps) with the Dakar logo. The package also includes a rear step bumper with a tow bar, black tonneau cover, smoke-grey alloy wheels, body coloured mirrors, body coloured door handles and a Dakar badge on the tailgate.
The interior is enhanced with black leather seats and door inserts with red stitching and black carpets with Dakar embroidery and a reverse camera on the Xtra-cab and double-cab models.
Pricing ranges from R292 200 for the single-cab 2.7-litre petrol Raised Body Raider Dakar Edition to R509 100 for the double-cab 4.0-litre V6 petrol 4x4 automatic Dakar Edition.
