Gravy train

2010-08-23

Dear Editor

Thank you for Howard Dembovsky’s article on JMPD and AARTO (Autodealer East week 33).
The illustrious obesities of the JMPD are striving well to plunder legal road users whose vehicles are licensed and are mostly used to earn an income to pay their tax burden, whick keeps the gravy train running.
These unfortunate legal road users, who can be traced, are faced with frustration and aggravation at having to make their way from A to B amid overloaded, unroadworthy pollution pumps and thoughtless cell phone operators who clog the roads at speeds below the legal speed limit while being hooted and harassed from both sides by light passenger buses. Because motor vehicles are not governed to a maximum of 60km/h some will, in their endeavour to get somewhere, exceed the speed limit and be brought to task.

But can anyone tell me what the JMPD and EMPD are doing about the hundreds, and I say hundreds without fear of contradiction, of vehicles on the road without number plates that speed recklessly, intimidating their way through the traffic with defective silencers on their exhaust pipes, and the umpteen vehicles with false number plates?

It is not Mr Average Hardworking Taxpayer that speeds occasionally that is the problem on the road, but he carries the brunt of the penalties.

Yours sincerely

Andy McLetchie
