My personal bugbear is parents who don’t buckle their children up before travelling. My son-in-law, a very nice person, otherwise, took my three-year-old granddaughter with him to the shop without buckling her up. He had to stamp on his brakes to avoid another motorist who did something stupid and the child fell forward and cut her top lip. The lip healed leaving a scar. Now at age 12 the child is so self-conscious that she speaks from behind her hand, rarely smiles, as the scar tissue goes purple when she does and there is not one photo that I have where her face is not partially covered.
Of all the vehicles I see on the road conveying children, nine out of 10 drivers allow their children to stand on the seats. Even worse some allow their children to sit on the top edge of the back of an open LDV. Where are our law-enforcement officers? I believe that fines should be imposed in situ for any law infringement concerning children.
