"Rugged" not-SA-bound Dacia Logan MCV Stepway unveiled

Unlikely to arrive in South Africa anytime soon, Renault owned Dacia has taken the covers off the latest addition to its growing crossover inspired Stepway range, the new Logan MCV.

Using the conventional MCV estate as a base, the Stepway receives a 50 mm increase in ground clearance, black wheel arch, door and bumper linings, black grille, satin silver front and rear skidplates, LED daytime running lights, Dark Metal mirror capping and roof fails, new colours and 16-inch Dark Metal Flexwheel alloy wheels.

Inside, the interior borrows heavily from the Sandero with satin silver inserts, new multi-function steering wheel, 3D weave fabric seats and a comprehensive list of standard equipment such as Hill Start Assist, seven-inch MediaNav Evolution touchsreen infotainment system with Bluetooth and DAB Radio, rear parking sensors with optional reverse camera and man-made leather trim also as an option. As with the standard MCV, boot space in the Stepway is rated at 573-litres or 1 518-litres with the rear seats folded down.

Mimicking the flagship Laurette spec Logan MCV, the Stepway can be had with either a 898 cc TCe petrol engine developing 66 kW and 135 N.m of torque, or a 1.5 dCi with 66 kW and 220 N.m. A five-speed manual is the sole gearbox offered with drive going to the front wheels only. Fuel consumption is rated at 5.1 L/100 km for the former and 3.9 L/100 for the latter.
