AA: Expect substantial petrol price hike for February

The Automobile Association (AA) has warned of a second consecutive increase in the price of all grades of fuel for February.

In a statement, the association said the firm rand offset by stronger international oil prices could lead to a 44 cents increase in the price of petrol, with diesel jumping up by 37 cents and illuminating paraffin by 31 cents.

"South Africans should already be thinking of trimming any unnecessary expenses to accommodate a series of fuel price hikes which seem likely in the medium term." the statement read.

A short while ago, the national currency was trading at R13.60 against the US Dollar with Brent Crude Oil at $55.60 a barrel.
