The Evoque has been a massive success in South Africa, with 137 units sold in January alone. Now Land Rover South Africa has released details regarding a more affordable Evoque, called the Pure, which should see sales grow even further.
The Pure derivatives will be the first in the range to offer the new ZF nine-speed automatic transmission. It is said that the transmission will lower fuel consumption by allowing the engine to operate in the most efficient parts of its rev range as often as possible. The benefits can be seen in the diesel model, which has its fuel consumption reduced by 5% and emissions by 4%.
The Pure can be distinguished by its 18-inch silver alloy wheels and the Evoque nameplate finished in black. Standard creature comforts in this base model include leather upholstery, keyless entry, a 380 Watt Meridian sound system, cruise control, multi-function steering wheel, USB connectivity, Bluetooth with audio streaming as well as front park distance control and fog lamps.
The Pure specification level will be available on both the 177kW turbo-petrol and 140kW diesel models. Pricing is not yet confirmed, but is said to start at R598 000 for the petrol and R602 000 for the diesel, which undercuts the current cheapest model by over R60 000.
