Reportedly said to also preview the Volkswagen T-Roc R, the SQ2, according to Britain's Auto Express, will pack the same 2.0-litre turbocharged engine as the Audi S3 and Volkswagen Golf R, but rated at 184 kW as opposed to the 228 kW of its hatch siblings. As to be expected though, the SQ2 will have quattro all-wheel drive as standard, with the amount of twist expected to be transmitted through a seven-speed S tronic gearbox.
Meanwhile, the publication has snapped fresh images of the SQ2 prototype allegedly near the Nürburgring, sporting masking only on the bumpers but with quad exhausts and deeper air intakes. Although lacking the S model specific body kit, expect those as well as bigger wheels to be featured on the production model.
No launch date for the SQ2 has yet been announced, but as it forms part of Audi's extensive rollout of 11 SUVs by the end of 2019, expect the SQ2 to arrive either during the second third quarters of the year.
