August new vehicle sales: How South Africa compares

06.09.2018

South Africa’s new vehicle market recorded its first decline in August since February, with the National Association of Automobile Manufacturers of South Africa (NAAMSA) recording a 2.5% drop from last year’s 49 198 units to 47 964 this year.

Declines also hampered both the Australian and US markets, while the United Kingdom registered a significant improvement of 23.1%, helped by an eight percent spike in the sales of electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles.

As a comparison, here is how South Africa's Top 10 best sellers from August stacked-up against those from the United States, UK, Australia and Brazil.
