BMW M candy store

Imagine a place where petrolheads could gather and be surrounded by the latest BMW M performance cars and everything M-related.

Such a place exists and it can be found at Zambesi Auto.

BMW South Africa unveiled the second biggest stand-alone BMW M showroom in the world, right here, in Pretoria South Africa. BMW says that the new showroom will pave the way for additional stand-alone BMW M showrooms in South Africa and the world.

Now you might be thinking that it's pointless to have a complete showroom aimed at BMW M vehicles in these tough economic times. However, looking at the sales figures one can easily justify the need. In 2015, full-year sales of BMW M vehicles worldwide were up nearly 65 percent, totalling around 35 000 units. And sales of the ever-growing range of BMW M Performance vehicles grew over 16 percent to total around 28 000 units.

"South Africa is one of the top performers in the world in terms of BMW M market share and sales. For example, in 2015 BMW South Africa was ranked fifth in the world in terms of overall BMW M market share. A total of 916 BMW M units were delivered to local customers while 1 049 BMW M Performance units were also delivered to customers – this is an increase of more than 40 percent compared to 2014. It is therefore very clear that South Africans are big fans of our BMW M vehicles,” said Mr Tim Abbott, Managing Director of BMW Group South Africa.

So what can you expect from the M Dealership? Well BMW South Africa, as well as Mr Rob Sexton, Managing Director of Legacy Auto Group (and 50 percent shareholder) and Mr Christo Lindeque, the Dealer Principal of the new showroom and two other dealerships, said that their passion for the BMW M brand can be seen in the fact that Zambesi Auto has always been a pioneering dealership with regards to the M brand.

Walk in and you are greeted by some of the best cars BMW has on offer, and even some old faces like the iconic, 1978 BMW M1 which takes centre stage. New to the dealership is the much anticipated BMW M2, which we will be driving in the coming weeks. If that's not enough then the fact that the elusive BMW M4 GTS also graces the showroom floor, the car will be added to the BMW M line-up later this year along with the M760Li.

If you are considering an M vehicle then it's good to know that BMW South Africa has, since 2015 been implementing its Future Retail strategy in all its dealerships. The Future Retail concept comprises of a range of retail initiatives and tools designed to enhance a BMW customer’s premium retail experience.

Now not everyone can afford a BMW M car but that doesn't mean that you can't go to the dealership. If you love iconic performance cars or even if you are looking for a nice BMW cap or BMW shirt, get down to Zambesi Auto and just enjoy the candy.
