BMW give X4 some M treatment

We all love a little bit more. Oliver Twist got a decent beating because he asked for more but it’s just natural. We strive for more, more space, more freedom, more money and more power. BMW has thus added more sportiness to its X4 model in the form of the X4 M40i. We have all the details here.

Following the recent local launch of the updated BMW 3 Series which saw the introduction of the 340i, previously badged as the 335i and now sporting an upgraded power plant, BMW has decided to give the same treatment to its sporty activity vehicle, the X4 M40i.

On the face of it, the X4 M40i features a more aggressive look thanks to the high standards set by BMW M Performance parts. Exclusive accents of colour on the front of the vehicle and the side mirrors, which are finished in metallic Ferric Grey as well as the exclusive 20-inch M light-alloy double-spoke wheels and the addition of a sports exhaust system with valve control and Chrome Black tailpipes on both sides emphasize the unique character of the new BMW X4 M40i.

In the interior, the typical character of BMW M is always present. The M leather steering wheel, the M gear shift lever, the sport seats and model-specific door sills provide a foretaste of imminent driving pleasure.

As we mentioned earlier, the newly developed M performance TwinPower Turbo inline six-cylinder petrol engine delivers 265kW and 465Nm of torque. With this high-performance engine and the advanced M Performance TwinPower Turbo technology, the BMW X4 M40i accelerates in less than five seconds to 100 km/h. An 8-speed Steptronic sports transmission, fitted as standard equipment in the new BMW X4 M40i is responsible for getting the power to the wheels.

It can’t just wear an M badge, it needs to deliver on driving pleasure, and according to BMW it does. Engineers have specially tuned the sports chassis of the new BMW X4 M40i which now provides driving dynamics at an advanced level. Stronger springs and stabilizers, increased camber on the front axle, the adaptive dampers specifically tuned to M Performance specifications and the BMW xDrive four wheel drive system with its rear wheel-drive characteristics including Performance Control, ensure a neutral self-steering response as well as a reduced roll tendency and guarantee a maximum of driving pleasure.

With the introduction of the new BMW X4 M40i, the successful BMW X4 series has gained a new top model. We will keep you updated as to when it will arrive on our showroom floors. Until then, head on over to our Facebook page for more details.
