Spotted last year in prototype form lapping the Nürburgring, the Black Series will reportedly serve as the final curtain call for the current generation AMG GT, and come powered by an updated 4.0-litre bi-turbo V8 expected to eclipse the 430 kW / 700 Nm outputs.
"There is a GT variant still left… We are on the journey, we started the journey for Black Series," CEO Tobias Moers told Australia's CarAdvice at the Geneva Motor Show, adding that 2020 would be an "interesting year" for the automaker.
According to the online platform, the Black Series would also be lighter than the GT R and feature a new gearbox as the current seven-speed dual-clutch "can’t handle that much more power anymore," according to Moers. Further changes would likely be revised suspension, sharper steering and unique interior trim.
