Brawny Mercedes-Benz X350d priced in Germany

Already on sale in both Europe and the United Kingdom, Mercedes-Benz has released pricing details in its home market for the flagship X-class V6.

Coming to South Africa later this, the X-class shares its underpinnings with the Nissan Navara and Renault Alaskan, and while the greater majority of models are powered by the familiar single or twin-turbocharged 2.3-litre four-cylinder diesel engine, the X350d utilises a Mercedes-Benz sourced 3.0-litre V6.

Available in mid-range Progressive or top-spec Power trim levels, the X350d has outputs of 190 kW and 550 Nm of torque, linked to a 7G Tronic automatic gearbox and 4Matic permanent all-wheel drive with five modes; Eco, Comfort, Sport, Off-Road and Manual.

While the X-class retains the Navara's somewhat controversial coil-spring rear suspension, it will have two ground clearance options; 202 mm and 222 mm, with only the latter setup being allocated for South Africa.

Arriving in mid-2018, pricing for the X350d in Germany will start at €53 360 (R764 202) with final local availability yet to be announced.
