Citroen’s DSUV breaks cover

Citroën fans will remember the Wild Rubis concept that made its way to motor shows around the globe. The new DS 6WR, which will be unveiled at the 2014 Beijing Motor Show, is based on the Rubis concept, meaning the French automaker is entering the premium SUV segment and with DS model no less.

Citroën’s first crack at an SUV sees a car that is 4 550mm long, 1 860mm wide and 1 610mm tall with a wheelbase of 2 730 mm. The DS 6WR has the Grip Control system, which its makers say negates the need for a four-wheel-drive system and aids with CO2 and fuel consumption figures.

The new model is powered by the e-THP 160 and THP 200 powertrains, which are mated to a six-speed automatic gearbox. The DS 6WR will be built at the Shenzhen factory, making it the third DS model to be produced in China.
