Darkest Volkswagen Amarok heads Down Under, SA availability likely?

First shown at the Frankfurt Motor Show last year and then announced for the United Kingdom earlier this year, Volkswagen has now confirmed availability of the special edition Amarok Dark Label in Australia.

Heading Down Under in April, the Aussie spec Dark Label is likely to mirror both the Frankfurt  and UK models aesthetically, although unlike the latter market, production will be limited to 500 units instead of 200. A further change is underneath the bonnet where the 165 kW / 550 Nm 3.0-litre TDI V6 will replace the 150 kW / 500 Nm unit, while the eight-speed Tiptronic gearbox and 4Motion all-wheel drive are both kept.

No pricing for the Dark Label has yet been announced, but with it now being offered Australia, it remains to be seen whether Volkswagen South Africa would deem it suitable for the local market as either the new flagship model in place of the Extreme, or between it and the mid-range Highline Plus.
