Department of Energy confirms February fuel price decrease

The Department of Energy has announced final cuts in the price of all grades of fuel due to be implemented this coming Wednesday (7 February).

Slightly adjusted from the estimations of the Automobile Association (AA) last month, the Department has confirmed that the price of petrol would decrease by 30 cents a litre, diesel by 17 cents and illuminated paraffin by 19 cents. The stronger rand despite increasing international oil prices have been attributed to the latest fuel price drop. A short while ago (10:45) the national currency was trading at R12.06 to the US Dollar with Brent Crude Oil at $68.03 a barrel.
