Dodge Challenger SRT Demon to undergo drastic weight loss regime

With the number of teaser videos leading up to its official unveiling at the New York Motor Show in April set to increase in the coming months and days, Fiat-Chrysler owned Dodge has released another snippet of info about its brutal Challenger SRT Demon.

Based on the already insane SRT Hellcat, the latest clip indicates that the Demon will be subjected to an intensive weight loss programme with items such as the front passenger seat and seatbelt mounting points, rear seats, vast majority of sound denting, spare wheel and boot lining all being junked to save weight.

In addition, the audio system features only two speakers while smaller brakes, custom lightweight 18-inch alloy wheels and manual tilt-telescope steering wheel adds to a total weight save of 105 kg, although the addition of flared front and rear flared wheel arches brings this down to 97 kg compared to the Hellcat.

No power figures have been revealed though it is expected that the Demon will feature an even more powerful version of the Hellcat's 527 kW 6.2-litre supercharged V8.
