Facelifted Mercedes-Benz S-class snapped undisguised

29.03.2017

A Saudi Arabian-based website has posted first images of the facelifted Mercedes-Benz S-class, completely devoid of any camouflage.

Sporting orange indicators similar to the setup used in the United States, the images by saudishift.com nevertheless sees the S-class featuring a revised grille, new multi-beam LED headlights, chrome strip across the lower air intake and at the rear, slightly reworked LED taillights, redesigned bumper and chrome bar between the two exhaust outlets.

The interior meanwhile gets the same expansive infotainment display as other Mercedes-Benz models, while the steering wheel is similar to that of the recently launched S-class Coupe.

Pictured here in S560 4Matic guise, a designation likely to replace the S550 (S500 to us) sold in the States, power will reportedly come from a 4.0-litre bi-turbo V8 developing a rumoured 355kW and 700Nm of torque. Lesser models though will feature Benz's revived 3.0-litre M256 turbocharged straight-six making some 300kW and 500Nm, and a similar configured diesel, known as OM656, with 230kW and 650Nm.

Mercedes-Benz has remained tight lipped on the S-class' unveiling, although it is rumoured that the upcoming New York or Shanghai Motor Shows are earmarked.
