Faster Peugeot 508 possibly heading for Paris debut

Shown at the Geneva Motor Show last month, a new report from France has claimed that Peugeot is working on a GTI variant of the 508, providing a rival for the Volkswagen Arteon R-Line and Opel Insignia GSI.

According to, the rumoured 508 GTI will continue to use the same 1.6-litre PureTech engine as the GT, but with power going up from 165 kW to 200 kW. This would make it nine kilowatts more powerful than the Insignia GSI and six kilowatts down on the Arteon R-Line. The same report also claims that Peugeot, if not in favour of the GTI moniker for a sedan, could revive the Ti designation instead that last appeared on the 505 made between 1979 and 1992.

Expect the model to feature a series of exterior and interior revisions to differentiate itself from the GT, with the online platform predicting it to debut at the Paris Motor Show in October.
