This new model will have its world preview on the sixth anniversary of the 500 family in July. According to Fiat, this new car is for living life to the full and which reaches out to a diverse public, is attentive to new features and looking for a balance between functionality and design in order to accommodate as many interests and uses without compromising on style.
The 500L MPW - which is as compact as a mid-size car - combines the charm of the 500 with the agility of a city car, the comfort and contents of a C-segment station wagon and the space and versatility of an MPV.
To boot, this new Fiat is actually a '5+2' seater, making it the smallest such MPV in its segment. At 4 350mm long, it's about 200mm shorter than a C-segment station wagon, yet still ensures great comfort, space and load capacity, a fact most clearly demonstrated by a load capacity of 638 litres.
Fiat is aiming for the 500L MPW to reach both male and female consumers. Men will be won over by its functionality and efficiency will women will find its beauty, intelligence and style most attractive.
At launch in the UK, the Fiat 500L MPW will be available with 1.4-litre 16v and 0.9-litre TwinAir Turbo petrol engines, as well as 1.3- and 1.6-litre MultiJet II turbo-diesels.
As with the original 500, there will be no shortage of customisation options. The range will be available in two trim levels, 19 body colours (including 11 two-tone combinations), six interior trims and 15 different types of alloy wheels and hub caps. All this adds up to no fewer than 282 possible customisation combinations.
It is unclear whether Fiat South Africa will launch 500L MPV locally.
