Celebrating 30 years since the introduction of the first V12-engine 7-series, the 5.0-litre E32 750i, the M760Li as its name suggests, will be offered in long wheelbase configuration only with measurements of 5 238 mm in overall length, height of 1 479 mm and weight of 2 180 kg despite making extensive use of carbon fibre.
Set to rival the Mercedes-AMG S65 in the power ranks, the M760Li uses the same 6.6-litre N74 TwinTurbo V12 as the Rolls-Royce Ghost, but returned to deliver a colossal 448 kW and 800 N.m of torque, with BMW's familiar eight-speed Sport Steptronic gearbox sending the grunt to all four wheels as per the xDrive moniker.
Despite its size and weight, BMW claims the M760Li will hit 100 km/h from standstill in 3.7 seconds and on to a limited top speed of 250 km/h, although this can be upped to 305 km/h with the optional M Driver's Package selected.
Fitted as standard with BMW's new Executive Pro air suspension incorporating Dynamic Damper Control and Dynamic Drive Select with six modes; Eco Pro, Comfort, Comfort Plus, Sport, Sport Plus and Adaptive, the M760Li also gets Integral Active Rear Steering and somewhat surprisingly, Launch Control.
As to be expected, the newcomer is jammed packed with technology with items including Wi-Fi, My BMW remote App, laser headlights with selective beam, active ventilated seats, Gesture Control, Comfort Access, Night Vision with Pedestrian Detection and bespoke exterior traits such as matt grey 20-inch M light alloy wheels, M aerodynamics bodykit, chrome V12 badges, optional boot spoiler and Cerium Grey detailing on the grille, front wings and exhaust tips.
For selected markets like China, an Excellence stylish package can be specified with features consisting of 20-inch w-spoke Individual light alloy wheels, chrome and silver exterior detailing and bespoke interior trim finishes.
Pricing in the UK starts at £132 310 (R2 193 731) with BMW South Africa is yet to confirm final details.
