It’s a fantastic little hot hatch with bundles of driver enjoyment jam-packed into its petite body. However, as is the case with many things, our desire, nay… our demands for more power need to be met and the guys at Ford have delivered. This is the Ford Fiesta ST200 and it has more power.
This model now delivers 10 percent more power and 20 percent more torque. This equates to 147kW and 290Nm from a specially calibrated 1.6-litre EcoBoost petrol engine. Now those of you, who know a thing or two about hot hatches, will know that these power figures are the same as those developed by the MK5 Golf GTI, with 10Nm in favour of the Fiesta. Drivers can also expect an extra 30Nm of torque for up to 20 seconds using transient over-boost. This will help the Fiesta ST reach 100km/h in just 6.7 seconds.
Like the Fiesta ST, the ST200 delivers optimised cornering and agility by using an enhanced Torque Vectoring Control and three-mode Electronic Stability Control, a specially modified front steering knuckle, unique front and rear spring and damper settings with a 15mm lower centre of gravity and an enhanced braking system with a larger tandem brake master cylinder and rear disc brakes. All of this equates to a car that’s sure to set your pants on fire around a racetrack - the standard ST does.
The ST200 will feature an exclusive specification including unique storm grey exterior, distinctive machined matte black alloy wheels and special interior detailing.
Production of the Ford Fiesta ST200 begins in June 2016 with first deliveries to customers expected soon thereafter.
