Ford Ranger Wildtrak-light now available Down Under

Ford Australia has introduced a limited edition version of its top selling Ranger in the form of the double cab XLT-based FX4.

A designation in the United States normally reserved for off-road focused versions of the F150 and long-discounted US-spec Ranger, the FX4 merely serves as an appearance package with grey 18-inch alloy wheels, black rollbar, black FX4 decals on the tailgate and at the base of the doors, black bonnet and roof rails, side steps, door handles and mirrors. FX4 embossed leather seats is the sole interior difference.

Power remains unchanged with the Port Elizabeth-build 3.2-litre Duratorq TDCi five-cylinder engine making 147 kW and 470 N.m of torque, and channelled to the rear or all four wheels via a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic.

Prices range from $58 915 (R589 294) for the manual to $61 115 (R611 299) for the automatic, but don't expect the FX4 to touch down in South Africa anytime soon.
