Four-door Mercedes-AMG GT teased ahead of Geneva

Mercedes-AMG has released a teaser sketch of what its four-door GT4 concept could like before its official debut at the Geneva Motor Show this week.

Known under the internal designation X290, the newcomer, as previously reported, will use the same albeit revised MRA architecture as the regular AMG-GT, with the 4.0-litre bi-turbo V8 incorporating a 48-volt electric system, and perhaps the option of the Benz’s recently reived 3.0-litre turbocharged straight-six.

Set to replace the CLS Shooting Brake and rival the Audi A7, Porsche Panamera and BMW 6-series Gran Coupe, the GT4 will reportedly only be offered with four-wheel drive with the base model expected to carry the 4Matic+ nomenclature, and the flagship to be called the S 4Matic+ with the same power and torque outputs as the E63 S 4Matic+.

Production is forecasted to commence early next year.
