Funky little Aygo perfect for the city

THE Aygo is overshadowed by the other small hatch in Toyota's line-up, the Etios, but truth is the Aygo offers just as much car for your money

It was recently given a makeover and fittingly the new look Aygo was launched at the Red Bull X-Fighters event held at the Union Buildings in Pretoria.

A prominent X-motif in the front grille which extends upwards to the A-pillar and side mirrors gives the car a unique identity. The five-door hatch exudes a sporty, youthful and energetic image.

Under the bonnet the Aygo packs a 51kW 1.0-litre three-cylinder engine with the best thermal properties in its class. A fuel economy figure of only 4.4-litres per 100km in the combined cycle makes the Aygo a fuel saver.

The new Aygo also sports some great specs, boasting standard features such as:

  • touch-screen audio display
  • Bluetooth functionality
  • auto-door lock
  • front power windows
  • air-conditioning
  • full suite of safety kit

Three derivatives are available with two sporting two-tone paint jobs in the form of either a black- or silver roof. The range kicks off at R141 700 for 'normal' Aygo and R144 100 for both black and silver roofed cars. Specification levels in all three models are the same.

A 3-year/100 000km warranty is standard with a service plan being optional.
