A car retailing for less than R100 000 normally comes with about as much standard features as a Bic pen. Not so in the Geely GC2.
Geely claims that its new car outperforms everything in its class as far as performance and standard equipment are concerned.
On the performance side, the GC2 is powered by a 997cc three-cylinder petrol mated to a five-speed manual. It packs a 50kW/88Nm punch, which isn’t a lot, but then again the GC2 doesn’t weigh that much.
The standard-features list is more impressive. You get air conditioning, electric windows in the front, a sound system (MP3/ USB/Aux) with front and rear speakers and a full-size spare wheel. The sound system isn’t some cheap CD-player option either.
The GC2 retails for R89 900 and there’s nothing that can touch it in the standard-features department at this price.
Also included in the retail price is a 3-year/100 000km warranty, while a service plan is an optional extra.
