Honda’s compact MSX125 hits SA

HONDA is well known both locally and globally for its fun-to-ride small motorcycles that seemingly last forever. Young riders in SA now have another option in the starter segment in the form of the MSX125 (Mini Street X-treme 125).

It is manufactured in Thailand and features a 125cc fuel-injected engine and a four-speed gearbox and clutch. Complementing the powerplant is a compact chassis that features a steel frame, inverted front fork, mono-shock rear suspension, hydraulic disc brakes front and rear and lightweight 12-inch wheels with low profile tyres.

The new frame has also enabled efficient storage of PGM-FI-related components and electrical parts inside the tank cover, without reducing its 5.5-litre fuel capacity.

With a kerb weight of 101.7kg and a power output of 7kW/11Nm the MSX should be a fairly nippy riding proposition.

In terms of design, the MSX125 looks like a street fighter/naked bike with its combined projector headlight, un-fared body and wide handlebars. The rider also benefits from an LCD digital dash to deliver rider information such as speedometer, twin trip meters, fuel gauge and clock.

The MSX125 is available in four paint options, namely: Asteroid black metallic, pearl Himalayas white, pearl Valentine red and candy Pisces blue.

The Honda MSX125 comes with a Complimentary Rider Training course through the Honda Academy, 12 months free Roadside Assistance and a 24-month unlimited kilometre warranty.
