Hot Volkswagen Gol concept sets the bar high

Volkswagen has unveiled what is claimed to be the most extreme version its popular Gol entry-level hatch at the Sao Paulo Motor Show.

Brazil's top-selling car from 1987-2014 and now into its third generation, the Gol GT Concept rides on the same PQ24 platform as the Polo with a series of styling additions seemingly borrowed from the GTI. These include 18-inch Serror alloy wheels, twin-exhaust pipes, darkened rear tailights, LED daytime running lights, rear diffuser and a unique aero kit made up of wider bumpers, boot spoiler and front lip spoiler.

Finished in a exterior hue dubbed Grey Volcano Metallic, the interior continues the racy theme with shell-type sports seats, new steering wheel, bespoke door handles and air vents, drilled aluminium pedals, GT badging and Lava Red accents. Although no mention of power was made, the concept is rumoured to feature a flex-fuel compatible 1.0-litre TSI developing 92 kW and 200 N.m of torque.
