Hyundai stuns Sao Paulo with surprise pick-up concept

Debuting the Brazilian spec Creta SUV at the Sao Paulo Motor Show earlier today, Hyundai also surprised show goers with the unveiling of the Creta STC (Sport Truck Concept) as a possible future rival for the Renault Duster Oroch and South American exclusive Fiat Toro.

Borrowing styling hints from the Santa Cruz concept shown in Detroit last year, the Creta STC measures 4.6 m on overall length with a wheelbase of 2.8 m, width of 1.8 m and height 1.6 m. Boasting suicide rear doors and fitted with 21-inch wheels wrapped in Pirelli Scorpion rubber, the STC features a load bed measuring 1.3 m long and 1.2 m wide with Hyundai claiming a capacity of 850-litres.

Power comes from either a 1.6-litre petrol delivering 95 kW 162 N.m of torque, or a 2.0-litre petrol with 124 kW and 201 N.m. Although production of the STC remains the unknown, expect the Creta to make its South Africa debut early next year.
