Jaguar mulling possible SVR badged M3 rival

Jaguar-Land Rover's Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) is reportedly planning a fully-fledged performance version of the XE to rival the BMW M3 and Mercedes-AMG C63.

British weekly Auto Express reports that the planned XE SVR, the third model after the F-Type and Range Rover Sport to receive the SVR moniker, will use a variation of JLR's long serving 5.0-litre supercharged V8 with around 373 kW on tap, and possibility four-wheel drive instead of the traditional rear-wheel drive setup.

Expected to also use the now familiar eight-speed automatic gearbox, the 0-100 km/h sprint will comfortably eclipse the 5.1 seconds of the 3.0-litre supercharged V6 XE S with top speed likely to be limited to 250 km/h.

Along with a series of cosmetic upgrades, the SVR while likely to offered with carbon ceramic brakes, steering and suspension and a rumoured electronically controlled limited slip diff as well.
