Kiehl's Charity Cheetah Karting Day: Racing for a good cause

09.09.2015

THIS coming Sunday, the 13th of September, is the annual Charity Cheetah Karting Day held at the Zwartkops International Karting circuit. The aim of the event is to raise funds for the Ann van Dyk Cheetah Centre, De Wildt (about an hour from Johannesburg).

The twelve karts will be divided amongst twelve corporate teams to help raise funds. Teams from Ram Automotive, Team Snake Pit, three from Bridgestone SA, two from Jaguar Land Rover, and four teams from naming rights partner, named Doc Morse, Mr Bones, Pear Tree Corner and Spirit of Adventure, from Kiehl’s SA, will take part.

Last year’s Kiehl’s Charity Cheetah Karting Day was the most successful event held with over R45 000 raised for the centre. The four Kiehl’s SA teams include well known personalities such as André Venter and Kurt Darren, Talk Radio 702’s Aki and 94.7 Highveld Stereo’s Derek Alberts.

Autodealer will also be representing at the event, forming part of one of the Kiehl’s teams on the day, along with Kiehl’s SA brand ambassadors, Clare Vale and Nokuthula Radebe, who will join the teams as well.

Spectators at the event will find a PlayStation® stand where there will be PS4 consoles to entertain and prizes up for grabs from Kiehl’s SA, Bridgestone SA, Ram Automotive and others, to be presented along with the trophies.

The race is a two-hour endurance race run from 10am to 12 noon, with a pit stop every 15 minutes for a driver change. The racing is always close and exciting, with lots of passing and quick laps. Current trophy holder is the team from Ram Automotive.

Yeats is one of the Ann van Dyk Cheetah Centre’s Ambassador Cheetahs and is also Clare Vale’s adopted Cheetah. He will come through to personally thank the competitors after the prize-giving and help promote the excellent work done for over fifty years at the centre.
