Mahindra add Maxitruck to local line-up

The Mahindra Bolero pick-up range has been with us for some time and as such the Indian manufacturer has decided to expand its local line-up with the addition of the Bolero Maxitruck Plus – a single-cab workhorse bakkie specifically focused on providing a maximised payload, low running costs and rugged reliability at an affordable price point.

Added workload

The Maxitruck Plus offers an extended wheelbase of 3 150 mm, compared to the normal Bolero’s 3 014 mm.  At 2 500 x 1 540 x 295 mm (Length x Width x Height), the new model’s cargo box offers an impressive 1.13 cubic metres of cargo space, while the extended payload of 1 150 kg means the cargo space can be used to the full.

The new model features a 46kW/195Nm 2.5-litre turbodiesel engine powering the rear wheels which is claimed to consume just 7.0 litres/100 km on a combined cycle.

Workhorse suspension

Both front and rear axles are rigid designs, and make use of a progressive leaf spring suspension, combined with hydraulic dampers. There is also a hydraulic power steering system and revised steering geometry for a turning circle to just 11 metres.

Working class interior

The interior is designed for two occupants and features cloth upholstery, a two-tone instrument panel and an auxiliary power point.

Words from the CEO

“The addition of the Maxitruck Plus to our Bolero pick-up range confirms Mahindra’s commitment to providing South African buyers with authentic, robust and functional vehicles that are tough, reliable and affordable,” says Ashok Thakur, CEO of Mahindra SA.

Pricing and warranty

The Bolero Maxitruck Plus retails for R127 995 and is supported by a two-year/50 000 km warranty.
