May new vehicle sales: How South Africa compares

12.06.2018

While the effects of the latest round of fuel price hikes will only bear its teeth towards the end of June, new vehicle sales remained on top during May with the National Association of Automobile Manufacturers of South Africa (NAAMSA) recording a 2.4% improvement from last year’s 41 962 to 42 984 units.

The upward trend was also reflected in both the United States and for the second time in as many months, the United Kingdom, despite the on-going decline in the sales of diesel vehicles.

As a comparison, here is how South Africa's Top 10 best sellers from January stacked-up against those from the United States, UK, Australia and Brazil.
