More relief at the pumps for consumers

Another month and another petrol price decrease. The welcome relief for consumers was announced on Friday and will take effect as from the 4th of February.

All grades of petrol will drop by 93c a litre on the 4th of February, the Department of Energy said on Friday. This means that 93 unleaded will set you back R10.09 while 95 octane will be R10.31 and LRP fuel R10.09 per litre.

The price of diesel will go down by R1.02 a litre making 500ppm R9.26 and 50ppm R9.31 per litre respectively. Illuminating paraffin will drop by R1.36 a litre too.

As we have seen with previous drops, the main contributor is the falling oil price while our currency continues to lose ground on the dollar meaning that we could potentially have seen an even larger decrease in the price.
