New Mercedes-Benz GLE emerges in spy shots

Only expected to make landfall next year, spy shots of the next generation Mercedes-Benz GLE undergoing testing have leaked online.

Previously known as the M-class until a mid-life revision in 2015, the new GLE will reportedly follow the facelifted S-class in receiving the three-pointed star's new range of straight-six turbocharged petrol engine, likely to also feature a 48-volt electric system previewed by the albeit V8 powered AMG GT concept sedan.

A full range of four-and-six cylinder diesel engines will also star along with a V8 engine AMG derivative, likely to again carry the GLE 63 designation.

Although still sporting significant amounts of camouflage, expect the GLE to incorporate styling elements from the E-class inside and out, with the same expansive dashboard boasting a 12.3-inch infotainment display and TFT instrument cluster.

Expect more details to emerge closer to the GLE's launch next year.
