New entry level Citroën DS3

CITROEN have set their eye on the Mini One with their new VTi 82 Design. It may be down on power and torque when compared to the Mini, but the newcomer will hope to appeal to the fuel- and fashion conscious.

This stylish DS3 model will now see a three-cylinder 1.2-litre engine featuring Citroën’s PureTech engine technology under the bonnet. The engine produces 60kW and is claimed to use 4,6 litres/100 km and emit only 107g/km of Co2.

The 2013 DS3 line-up will remain as is, with the 1.6 turbo and non-turbo models doing the job in the form of the THP155 (115 kW) and the VTi120, respectively. The efficient e-HDi Airdream 90 diesel motor introduced late last year remains the same and rounds up the four engine options available.

A new feature for 2013 is the three-dimensional effect for the LED lighting. New roof colours in the form of Moondust metallic grey and Infiniti Blue are also available above the regular black and white option.

One of the biggest selling points for the DS3 is how customisable the car’s exterior and interior are. Citroën aims to make this level of customisation attainable by offering a product that is more accessible to the lower market segment by pricing VTi 82 Design at R199 900. The price includes a 4-year/60 000km service plan and a 5-year/100 000 km warranty.
