Newest Jaguar F-Type packs a 220 kW blown-four

Jaguar has expanded is F-Type range with the inclusion of a smaller four-cylinder model set to retail from £49 995 (R860 695) in its home markets.

Essentially the same 2.0-litre turbocharged Ingenium unit used in the XE and XF albeit revised, the blown four-pot churns out 220 kW and 400 Nm of torque, with drive going to the rear wheels via the familiar ZF-sourced eight-speed automatic gearbox.

Weighing some 52 kg less than the 250 kW supercharged V6 version, Jaguar claims the new 2.0-litre F-Type will reach 100 km/h from standstill in 5.7 seconds, and top out at 250 km/h. Despite the downsized engine, the Indian-owned British marque has stated that a revised exhaust would curb fears of the F-Type losing its signature sound, adding that both the steering and suspension have been updated to suit the new engine.

Jaguar Land Rover South Africa has yet to confirm if the 2.0-litre F-Type would be allocated for South Africa.
