Reportedly pictured in M140i guise by virtue of its blue brake callipers, low profile wheels and dual chrome exhausts, the newcomer, as previously reported, will join the 2-series Active Tourer in adopting the same UKL platform as the Mini, meaning a switch to front-wheel drive as opposed to the current model's rear-wheel drive layout.
While still heavily disguised, the new One is expected to feature styling similar to that of the recently launched 5-and 7-series', with a further switch being the departure of the straight-six engine in favour of a blown four-cylinder due to the UKL being unsuitable to accommodate the former.
Although unconfirmed, the M140i will likely send its power to all four wheels via BMW's xDrive system, effectively making it a rival to the Volkswagen Golf R, Ford Focus RS, Audi RS3 Sportback and Mercedes-AMG A45.
Meanwhile, spy shots of the second generation X4 on the back of a car carrier have also surfaced ahead of its rumoured unveiling next year.
Although mirroring the forthcoming X3 from the front, the rear facia resembles that of the Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe with 6-series inspired taillights, redesigned tailgate and relocated number plate display.
Based on the same lightweight CLAR platform as the 5-series and 7-series, the X4 will reportedly shave some 100 kg off the existing model, and feature a range of revised petrol and diesel engines with a plug-in hybrid also likely.
