Next Bentley Continental GT to get Bentayga's 447 kW W12

Spotted testing last month with styling derived from the EXP 10 Speed 6 shown at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, a new report has confirmed that the second generation Bentley Continental GT will use the same 6.0-litre W12 engine as the Bentayga.

According to Britain's Autocar magazine, the new GT will drop the current 5,998 cc mill for its SUV sibling's 447 kW 5950 cc unit, and share the Volkswagen Group's new MSB platform with the Porsche Panamera. In addition, the body will make extensive use of lightweight materials to cut down on the current model's bulk.

Aside from the new W12, the GT will also get a revised version of the current 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 and for the first time, a plug-in hybrid in the form of the Cayenne S E-Hybrid's 306 kW 3.0-litre V6. Unlike the Bentayga though, don't expect the Continental GT to offer the option of a diesel engine.
