29.01.2015

NISSAN has updated its popular Juke crossover model for 2015 with redesigned front and rear styling, a new engine and specification.

Exterior changes

The front-end gets new fog lights, a black air intake and a redesigned colour-coded bumper. The uppermost lights have been designed to bring the Juke in line with Nissan’s family face.

There are also new side mirrors with turn signals as well as new alloy wheels, which vary from model to model. The rear-end benefits from a new luggage door as well as a new diffuser and rear air dam.

 Interior panache

The interior has received a change in the form of a new centre cluster, which still has the I-Con button for drive settings but now also incorportates newly designed controls for a more premium look and feel.

The entire range receives better specification, even the basic Acenta model has Bluetooth phone integration, cruise control/speed-limiting, Stop/Start technology and full climate control. All models in the range also have vehicle dynamic control (VDC) and six airbags.

The luggage area has been redesigned with the space saver spare wheel being lowered  to increase the luggage space by 40 percent from 251 litres to 354 litres. This applies to all front-wheel-drive models.

Engine and transmissions

The new 1.2 DIG-T replaces the normally aspirated 1.6-litre petrol engine that powered the entry-level Juke models. The new motor, as seen in the Qashqai produces 85kW/190 Nm.It also has fuel returns of 5.6 litres/100km.

The  popular 1.6 DIG-T still forms part of the range and now produces 140kW/240Nm and propels the car from 0-100km/h in eight seconds and uses 6.9 litres/100km. The oil burner in the range is the 1.5 dCi turbo diesel with 81kW/260Nm, which goes from 0-100 km/h in 11.2 seconds and only sips 4.2 litres/100km.

All engines are available with either a six-speed manual or an XTronic CVT transmission. There is also the option of all-wheel-drive  with torque vectoring system.
