Nissan shows charitable side

22.03.2017

Nissan handed over five sponsored wheelchairs to individuals in and around Pretoria this weekend as part of the Barkzz Foundation’s #DonateAWheelchair campaign.

The broader campaign ultimately aimed to donate 200 wheelchairs to disadvantaged individuals living across South Africa who are not part of disability centres.

Nissan's corporate vision is to enrich the lives of others through a strong focus on mobility, community and sustainability. “It is our hope that through this initiative we will be able to fulfil our brand promise of enhancing the lives of others and help to empower these individuals to make meaningful contributions to their community,” comments Keba Matlhako, Senior Manager: BBBEE, ED and CSR Corporate Affairs.

#DonateAWheelchair was launched by the Barkzz Foundation, an organisation which advocates for the social integration of people with disabilities. The campaign is based on the idea that people with disabilities have as much potential to contribute to society as physically-abled people when platforms are put in place for them to access the same opportunities.

Thank you so much for being a good Samaritan (earthly angel)to the needy. I am writing this because my neighbor has been struggling for years to have a car and every time the car fails her and she loses a lot of money. She is a single parent, has two children and is in financial dire straits. I feel so sorry for her. They can never go anywhere and always has to rely on someone else. She is really having a hard time and is constantly in tears. She gets no support from her ex-husband and he asked her if he can move back in with her as he has no place to go but he does not want to look for a job thus she has one more mouth to feed. The things she went through with her ex was horrific and still she has a good heart to help him out. I was wondering if you might consider donating a second-hand car to her. My heart cries out for her but I can't be her good Samaritan the way I want to be. I would appreciate it if you could at least consider it. Thank you.

Hi Annetta, We are the web platform for car dealers and not a physical dealership that has cars. Many dealer groups do amazing work in helping our comunities and it would serve you well to write to one or 2 of them. I have also seen wonderful things done, when friends and relatives have rallied together to help someone. Don't give up.
