Motor1.com reports that the Russelsheim based automaker's Vice President for Design, Mark Adams, posted a single teaser image on his Instagram page showing the famed GSI badge on a yet as unknown red painted vehicle. Adams has however stated that the recipient will be "one of its most exciting new models".
Various reports have since claimed that the badge could find its way onto the boot lid of the new Astra, although its remains unclear if the GSI would slot in below or replace the OPC as Opel's flagship performance designation.
A GSI version of the new Insignia Grand Sport has also been mulled following recent spy shots of a disguised prototype undergoing testing at the Nürburgring. A Russian based website has since uploaded a series of images of the Insignia Grand Sport's Buick Regal twin in sporty GS trim, although it remains to be seen whether this model, which will be sold in Australia as the Holden Commodore SS, will indeed be sold as the Insignia Grand Sport GSI.
Responding to questions, Adams merely stated that an announcement will be made at a later stage today (Wednesday).
