The changes to the exterior are quite noticeable, as the styling is now more closely aligned with Peugeot’s latest offerings, like the 208. It’s definitely more striking than the model it replaces and Peugeot says it will be available in no fewer than nine exterior colours to make it stand out even more.
The cockpit has been redesigned to place more focus on the driving experience. We’re not entirely convinced that the enhancements are that extensive, but the 3008 was always a nice place to be, so we’ll let it slide. It does, however, have new seat covers, new metallic trimmings and updated switchgear.
Engine options will likely stay as is, but the big news is the inclusion of a hybrid model to the line-up. The 3008 hybrid has a 2.0-litre diesel engine powering the front wheels and a 27kW electric motor powering the rear. This gives it a combined output of 147kW, theoretical four-wheel-drive and a claimed consumption figure of just 3.4 litres/100km.
South Africans will get a taste of the new 3008 at the Johannesburg International Motor Show in October, while the official launch will take place early in 2014.
