Porsche 911 test mule wrecked as wind topples transporter

14.02.2017

Less than a year after an accident in Germany badly damaged seven brand new Porsche Cayman GT4's, another accident in Sweden has all but wreaked two 911's, one of which a test mule for the forthcoming new generation 992.

According to local reports, the trailer behind the silver MAN got caught by a strong gust before toppling over. Although no injuries were reported, the clearly visible black 911's are likely be classified as write-offs.

Spotted on a number of occasions undergoing testing in Europe, the 992 will reportedly use the same underpinnings as the recently launched Audi R8, and include a revised but wider range of mostly turbocharged engines as well as rear and all-wheel drive.

A plug-in hybrid could also join the range along with a seven-speed manual gearbox as opposed to the mainstay seven-speed PDK. Sales of the 992 are expected to commence somewhere around 2019.
