Porsche celebrate 50 years of 911

PORSCHE is celebrating the anniversary of the 911 in style by building a limited edition that will make its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.

Like the very first 911, the 911 50 Years Edition features a rear-mounted flat six engine and rear-wheel-drive.

The limited model is based on the current 911 Carrera S, but is clothed in a wider body - 44mm broader across the rear wheel arches - that is typically reserved for the all-wheel-drive Carrera 4 models. The exterior styling is combined with features that have contributed to the 50-year success story of the car.

Powered by a 298kW 3.8-litre flat-six engine, the 50 Years Edition sprints from zero to 100km/h in 4.5 seconds (4.3 seconds with the PDK) and can reach a top speed of 300km/h.

On the outside, this 911 features some of the best design elements from the past 50 years. This includes a unique five-spoke alloy wheel inspired by the legendary ‘Fuchs’ wheel designed in 1966. The new 20-inch diameter wheels are finished in matt black paint with machine-polished centres.

Two unique colours are available for this model: a darker Graphite Grey and a lighter Geyser Grey metallic. Each of the cars has a 911 50 badge finished in two-tone 3D style on the rear lid, which is repeated on the head restraints, the rev counter and the aluminium door-sill plates.
