Potent Lexus sets sights high

09.01.2015

THE Lexus GS is a great car; smooth, refined and generally a very nice place to be.

As we know, Lexus has recently developed panache for developing slightly mad performance variants and now the GS has been breathed upon by the fire associated with the “F” badge within the range.

Lexus GS F is set to be unveiled at the 2015 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. The GS F will be the latest vehicle to join Lexus' high-performance "F" line that already includes the RC F coupé.

The new GS F shares the same platform as the standard GS albeit with enhancements throughout, including to its engine. Under the hood will be a responsive, normally-aspirated 5.0-litre V8, producing 348kW/527Nm at 7 100rpm. The luxury performer tips the scales at 1 830kg, which should ensure that big lump up front is ample in the performance stakes.

The new model will also feature niceties such as a Torque Vectoring Differential (TVD) with three modes, namely: Standard (default), Slalom for sharper response and Track when really pushing on.
