R2 fuel price hike on the cards


WE’VE been reading reports at that, according to a leading SA economist, we could be in for a petrol price increase of R2 per litre, in April.

The first portion of the increase will come from the 81-cent fuel levy introduced by the finance minister during his annual budget speech, while the remaining Rand or so, could come as a result of our currency’s poor performance against the US Dollar.

This would represent the largest ever increase in our local fuel price and will certainly have a negative effect on consumers as all the additional disposable income enjoyed - when the price shot down - will now be reversed and the price may tickle the R13 per litre mark.
