REPORT: Next Lexus LS to adopt turbocharging and camera-based side mirrors

Facelifted earlier year but now very much the oldest model in its line-up, more details have emerged about the forthcoming fifth generation Lexus LS before its official unveiling next year.

According to an extract from Japanese publication Best Car and translated by online forum,, the radically new LS will replace the current model's normally aspirated 4.6-litre V8, for a brand new 3.0-litre V6 turbo with a 3.5-litre petrol / electric option to follow in due course.

The article also states that a fuel cell option will be added at a later stage, followed by the same 5.0-litre V8 used in the GS F and RC F. Little else is known about specification or power outputs at this stage, although the article further claims that base models will do without side mirrors in favour of a camera-based display.
