REPORT: Tiny Volkswagen up! SUV approved for 2020 under T-Track name

A day after releasing yet another teaser video of the T-Roc due on August 23rd, a new report has alleged that Volkswagen could be launching an even smaller SUV underpinned by the up!.

According to Germany's Autobild, production of the tiny Taigun, shown as a concept at the Sao Paulo International Motor Show in Brazil five years ago, has reportedly been given the green light, with the model due to make its official debut in 2020 under the T-Track moniker.

The publication further states that the rise in popularity of models in South America such as the Ford EcoSport, Dacia (Renault) Duster and Renault Kwid had prompted to Volkswagen to give the Taigun the thumbs up.

If it indeed becomes a production reality, expect the T-Track to use the same 1.0-litre three cylinder normally aspirated engine as the up!, as well as the 66 kW 1.0 TSI with drive going to the front wheels only.
