Range Rover Velar now completely uncovered

Exactly a week after a teaser image appeared online, Spanish website Diariomotor, has leaked complete pictures of the new Range Rover Velar.

Slotting in between the Evoque and Sport in Range Rover's model line-up, the striking coupe-esque Velar will use the same IQ lightweight aluminium platform as the Jaguar F-Pace, and rival the likes of the BMW X4 and Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe with prices in the UK rumoured to start at around £40 000 (R644 612).

Named after the original 1969 Range Rover prototype and derived from the Latin world velaris meaning veil or cover, the Velar will debut with the same Ford-based 3.0-litre V6 turbodiesel engine currently used in the Sport, but later with Jaguar-Land Rover's in-house developed four-and six-cylinder Ingenium turbo-petrol and turbodiesel engines. A V8 and performance SVR could also possibly be added later.

More details are expected to emerge when the Velar premiers at the Geneva Motor Show next week.
