Still carrying the internal designation E170, the mid-life refreshment mainly consist of new headlights with integrated daytime running LED's, new front and rear bumpers, new grille and LED taillights. Auto-tilting mirrors when reverse is selected are also be offered, although it remains to be seen whether South Africa will receive this option in due course.
Also launched in Malaysia recently, the Corolla, which carries the Altis suffix in that market, will remain mechanically unchanged with motivation coming from either a 1.8-litre petrol developing 103 kW and 174 N.m of torque, or a 2.0-litre petrol with 107 kW and 187 N.m. A CVT is the sole transmission available.
For South Africa though, expect the Corolla to retain its current selection of petrol (1.3, 1.6, 1.8) and diesel (1.4 D-4D) engines, as well as the standard six-speed manual or CVT boxes.
